I went to Pittsburgh, Pa. with my wife Joanna and twin 18-year-olds Ian and Elanor.

We met up with two friends and spent five days showing them our favorite places in the city.

We also spent a few days with my sister in Johnstown, Pa.

We were able to spend two days at the University of Pittsburgh, where Joanna and I both earned degrees.

We toured the Nationality Classrooms in the Cathedral of Learning and visited the Carnegie Natural History Museum and Art Museum.

On our last night in Pittsburgh, we had dinner at Le Mont, a restaurant that sits on a hilltop and provides a panoramic view of downtown Pittsburgh. The food was as splendid as the view!

It snowed the first three days we were there, but I was still able to navigate the sidewalks in my portable power wheelchair that Team Gleason provided.

As it is getting increasingly hard to stay mobile, I am thankful that Team Gleason provided the resources necessary to make it possible.

We did some research beforehand, to make sure all the places we wanted to see were accessible by wheelchair and had disability parking. We didn’t run into any difficulties, besides the snow and slush on the sidewalks!

Thank you so much for this adventure. It was a wonderful time staying connected with friends and family.

Throughout my marriage and my time with kids, I’ve written out family chronicles with stories and photos of our adventures together. This trip got its very own volume!
