February 2024
by Matthew Castleman

On February 11th, the Kansas City Chiefs became the first team since 2004 to win back-to-back Super Bowls! Super Bowl LVIII was held in Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and hosted the Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers!

This year, Team Gleason was delighted to have sent three families to the big game, including Matthew and his dad, son, and father in law! The group decided to make a roadtrip out of the Adventure, driving from San Antonio to Las Vegas and back!

We asked Matthew about his Adventure and how much it meant:

What was your favorite part of the Adventure?

My favorite part of the adventure was attending the Super Bowl with my friends and family! The most memorable part of the Adventure was walking down on the field before the game. It was truly amazing

This trip meant the world to me. Going to the Super Bowl was a dream come true. It was the most incredible experience of my life.

Did you face any challenges? How were you able to overcome them?

Surprisingly the weather was the biggest challenge. It was very cold in Vegas and that was unexpected but luckily, I brought my winter jacket.

How was the accessibility on your adventure?

The accessibility was pretty good. There were some elevators down on the strip that made traveling challenging. Also, the stadium was a bit confusing for certain handicap accessibility.

What advice would you have for someone else going on a similar adventure?

Overpack. Bring everything you might need. Most importantly enjoy every single second of your adventure and create as many memories as possible.

Thank you to Andrew Jo, National Football League Sr. Manager of Retired Players Program, for coordinating this Super Bowl experience.
