The trip to Hawaii is deeply meaningful to us as it offers a chance to create unforgettable memories in a beautiful setting, something we cherish even more while living with ALS. For my husband, it’s an opportunity to experience adventure and joy despite the challenges of his condition.
We all enjoyed staying at the hotel with a beautiful view of the ocean. Mornings began with slow beach walks with Ramzi followed by yummy breakfasts at local coffee shops, and finally relaxing by the pool. In the evenings we loved discovering the Hawaiian cuisine and live music wherever we could follow the music to.

Our favorite part of the adventure was seeing turtles in the ocean and watching Ramzi be able to swim around in the pool freely.
We needed to move very slowly especially the walks on the beach would drag his feet. We wanted to do a boat ride but unfortunately his legs could not enable him to get on it.
The most memorable parts of this Adventure were our sunset dinners spending time together by the ocean and eating delicious Hawaiian food while we share stories. Being on this vacation took our minds off ALS and gave us the chance to relax without stress.
Building memories as a family and making Ramzi’s wishes to walk along the Hawaiian waters come true.

Ramzi wanted to enjoy a sunset cruise but the boat excursion was unsuccessful because he couldn’t walk further enough into the water to get on the boat and unfortunately the crew didn’t want to help him up. They could not accommodate a disabled person and thus the entire family.
We thank you sincerely to Team Gleason for making this trip happen for a patient like Ramzi. We could not have made those same memories without your guys’ support!
