We learned of Louis DiGiacomo through his awesome and supportive mother, Karen. She reached out to Team Gleason to help with a National Mobility Contest. Unfortunately, Louis did not win the contest for a 2012 wheelchair accessible van. However, with the help of those who support The Gleason Initiative Foundation we were able to buy him a new wheelchair lift so he could get out of his house and take on the world in New York.

From his mom:
We don’t all live in the same place. I was nervous recently when I took Lou out for a walk. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to get him out on my own (after surgery). This lift is a great gift, or should I say necessity for someone with ALS. Lou actually operated the lift on his own and it make life so muuuuch easier. It makes him far more independent for a bit. Lovely.
