Christopher Nelson is a fraternity brother and a college roommate of Steve’s. He’s raising awareness for Team Gleason by educating his kids. They’ve inspired a community. It’s seriously awesome. Much love and thanks to the Nelson Family.
From Chris:
Drew and his Pop Warner Football Team (24 teammates) have launched a season long “Team Gleason / No White Flags” campaign. It started with an educational dinner hosted by Rebecca and I. We had a doctor and speech therapist visit with the boys and educate them and their families about ALS.
The entire football community has rallied around the boys and their campaign. No White Flags helmet stickers, Team Gleason Wristbands, “Awesome Ain’t Easy ” Tee Shirts, Special Teams Player of the Game recognition, Viper Facebook posts and a Door to Door Fundraiser has resonated with each one of these 12 year old boys. I was moved to tears when Drew (who was elected as Team Captain) passionately urged his teammates to “play for Gleason”.
