Living with ALS has truly shown me the fragility of one’s own existence. I’ve known this since I was a little kid but when I was diagnosed in May 2022, it took a whole new meaning.
All the love and care I’ve received throughout the past couple of years has allowed me to experience something that I couldn’t imagine, even in my wildest dreams…
Super Bowl LX!!!
My wife surprised me with the news and I couldn’t believe it. I’ve always wanted to go to a Super Bowl game.
We packed all my equipment in our accessible van and drove over 300 miles north from our home.
All I could think about on the road was how lucky I was to have this chance especially now that I rely on a ventilator to breathe, type with my eyes, eat through a feeding tube and can’t move any part of my body.
Once we arrived to the stadium the seats were more than I expected. I had an amazing view and I was surrounded by two other pals.
At the game I was covered up with blankets and a beanie. It got windy but thankfully it didn’t blow me away.
It was amazing witnessing four players from the University of Southern California Trojans become Super Bowl champions since I graduated from the University of Southern California!
It was also an incredible experience watching Bad Bunny perform live!
My family danced around me and my wife held my hand.
Unbelievable experience that I will never forget for as long as I’m here.
I left the stadium feeling inspired to continue going out on adventures no matter how challenging it is for someone like me.
It is all worth it! As my role model Steve Gleason says, “No white flags!”
