We were granted a Disneyland hotel stay for my mother and all her kids and grandkids.
We played in the pool, ordered food and drinks and went out to the on-site Hawaiian restaurant.
At dinner they sang her happy birthday and we gave her a very special gift.
My mom’s Favorite part of the adventure is the tiki torch restaurant with the Hawaiian singers, singing her happy birthday specialized to her.
Watching her tear up with joy and gratitude really touched everyone’s hearts.
Having her family there, especially her grandchildren, was a dream that she had wanted for a long time.
I would say the most memorable part of the adventure was watching my mom be able to move her legs again in the pool.
She mentioned that she has not been able to lift her legs in quite a long time.
Thanks to the chair lift for the pool, she was able to do that.
She was so ecstatic and shocked that she had that ability, and I know that just made her whole day.
It inspired her to try it again in the future.
This adventure was very special to all of us, especially my sister and me.
We grew up going to Disneyland and seeing my mom get to experience a portion of that at the hotel with her grandchildren really meant a lot.
I know that she will not be going back as she is getting worse day by day so having to experience that will be something we all will never forget.
The hotel was equipped with ADA ramps and chairlifts into the pool.
The on-site tiki restaurant could use more space for wheelchairs between the tables.
It made it very difficult for her to maneuver and sit comfortably at the table with how close the other chairs were to her.
Also, the selection on the menu was difficult for her to choose from as she needs to eat very soft items.
Overall, the hotel did a great job accommodating those with handicapped needs.
