My favorite part was spending time at the beach, the pool, and the Bacardi tour. I loved the water; it was SO blue and clear! I could see the coral reef underneath which was a first for me. It was gratifying and invigorating once we found a close and safe place for me to walk into the water.

Bacardi was educational and so much fun. I had an all-around good time. I did not expect the history of Bacardi to be so rich. My most memorable part was meeting my uncle for the first time. It was a full-circle moment and gave me profound emotions because it made me feel like I was connecting with my roots and heritage. That was the first time in my entire life that I felt that way.

One of the biggest challenges was not being able just to get up and explore as I was eager to see all the sights, but my family was very helpful and accommodating when it came to getting me around.

It meant everything to have my family experience a lot of “firsts” with me at this point in my life. Their first time in Puerto Rico. Their first time eating certain foods and seeing Old San Juan!

It is a check off my bucket list.

I had more accessibility on the beach than anything else. Although we found a good spot, there was still quite a bit of walking.

The pool at the Airbnb was beautiful but also required lots of assistance both trying to access it and getting it.

The advice I would give someone is to eat local and indulge in the cultural environment!

Don’t fly in the middle of the night, so businesses are still open to accommodate you. Especially for things like changes in rental cars and hotel rooms.

Practice your driving skills, Puerto Rico is a different arena.
